The 1934 Trip West: with Tom McGehee

In June of 1934, the Bellingrath’s embarked on a trip west which was carefully documented by Amelia Moore Edgar, a niece by marriage. Traveling in a pre-interstate world in a new 12-cylinder Cadillac with frequent blow-outs, dusty roads and no air conditioning was an adventure none of those passengers would ever forget. From an Alaskan cruise to a visit to Hollywood, the diary includes wonderful descriptions and will be paired with images of many of the places visited on their Trip of a Lifetime. The program is included with regular Gardens admission, and it’s free for Bellingrath members.
