Hurricane Season 101 with Hannah Fink Fox 10 Meteorologist

Meteorologist Hannah Fink will present a “Hurricane Season 101” class covering how hurricanes form, are tracked, and forecast to keep communities safe. She’ll explain the basics of hurricane season (June–November, peaking mid-August to mid-October), how storms develop, and the key ingredients needed for formation. The class will also cover hurricane structure, the Saffir-Simpson scale, and why hazards like storm surge and flooding often pose the greatest risk. Finally, she’ll highlight how meteorologists use tools like satellites, radar, aircraft, and computer models to track storms and why staying updated with reliable forecasts is essential. The program is included with regular Gardens admission, and it’s free for Bellingrath members.
