Azalea Trail Maids at Bellingrath Gardens and Home
The Azalea Trail Maids are goodwill ambassadors for Mobile, and have been representing the city at local and national events since 1929. The 50-member Azalea Trail Court is selected each year. Applicants are high school juniors who must pass an interview process to represent their school before they apply to the full court. The Maids are required to demonstrate their knowledge of Mobile history and must have exceptional grades in order to be selected to the Court.
The Azalea Trail Court is represented at hundreds of community events in Mobile County. In recent years, the Maids have also marched in Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California; the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City; Walt Disney World’s Easter Parade in Orlando, Florida; the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade; the Chicago Christmas Parade; the Indianapolis 500 Parade; the Presidential Inaugural Parade; and the 4th of July parade in Atlanta.
