The staff at Bellingrath Gardens and Home will continue to monitor recommendations from the CDC and our local and state health departments, and we will follow all guidelines to help prevent the spread of the virus. The health and safety of our guests and employees is our top priority.
Our precautions include:
Sanitizing: We are maintaining a thorough cleaning cycle. All high-touch surfaces, including restrooms, door handles and hand rails, will be wiped down with disinfectant every hour between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Training: Our staff members have been updated on the nature and symptoms of Covid-19 and the best practices to avoid becoming infected or spreading the disease. Best practices include following respiratory etiquette, proper hand hygiene, and staying home when sick.
Cleanliness: Hand sanitizer stations have been set up in all buildings. As always, we provide plenty of opportunities for employees and guests to wash and sanitize their hands in the restrooms, which are located in the Entrance Building, the Gift Shop and the Boehm Gallery. In addition, credit card transactions are encouraged when possible.
Protective shields and masks: Plastic shields have been mounted in the Admissions Building, the Gift Shop and the Magnolia Café to provide a barrier against germs. Guests are asked to wear masks inside the buildings to comply with the Alabama Governor’s current order, effective through October 31, 2020. All employees will wear masks when inside the buildings and when interacting with the public. Guests are encouraged to bring their own masks and hand sanitizer. Masks are available for purchase.
Social distancing and group capacity: Signs to remind guests of the importance of maintaining 6 feet apart have been placed in the buildings. Social distancing will be enforced.
